Let's talk about my blog!

Hi there! Let’s have a conversation about blogs!

I have wanted to start a blog for years, but I always found a way to just put it off. To just procrastinate and say, “I’ll get to it eventually, or “I really don’t have the time to do something like that.”

Well not anymore!

My husband and I recently made some pretty big changes to our personal life and I have decided that it was time to stop putting off starting this thing and to just jump head first into it! I mean why not? What do I have to lose? Maybe just the money I put into this thing but that wasn’t a lot which makes this pretty much a win-win situation to me. So, this first post is going to be just a little look into why I wanted to start a blog.

I have always enjoyed writing, in fact in high school I was even published in small magazine on a few occasions. For the longest time I had planned on attending college and getting a degree in English in the hopes that I could work as a writer and maybe even write a book or two. Well that didn’t happen, but don’t get me wrong, I eventually realized that I didn’t really need a degree to do something like that, so I decided to just not to pursue it. I could write whenever I wanted, and I was happy about that. I would tell myself that I could always start a blog, as a way to exercise my desire to write and do it on my own time. Well I put off starting a blog for years. I could always convince myself that now wasn’t a good time or that no one would be interested in what I had to say. There was always a way to talk myself out of this wonderful dream of mine. But if you know who says dreams can only be dreams?

For the longest time, I have always had these grand dreams and I would do little things here and there to try and reach them, but I would always just quit after my little moment on inspiration went away. That procrastination has always stuck with me until recently when I read Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis and I can personally attest that if you want something big to motivate you to follow those dreams you have or to reach those goals you keep setting for yourself; BUY THAT BOOK. Since reading that book, I have learned that I can dream as big as I want, and I am the only person standing in my way of making those dreams reality. Now I try to look at my dreams as just big giant goals that I am now so inspired to reach them that nothing can deter me from them. To do anything I can to achieve them. That’s what this blog is for me, it’s been a dream/goal of mine for so long that I couldn’t take putting it off any more and I just took a leap and starting preparing for future posts! That way I could hold myself to actual deadlines and make myself work on my blog. Now I know that I won’t always feel completely motivated, but I am finally pursuing this dream of mine and I could’t be happier!

The day I bought Girl Wash Your Face, I sat myself down and just got the ball rolling. Everything started falling in to place quite perfectly. I realized that I already had a shiny new up-to-date laptop, equipped with any kind of software that I could ever need to create blog posts and a run a website. Two fantastic DSLR cameras and a very detailed online photography course so I can better my photography skills. And finally, the best thing in my opinion, a wonderful story to tell. We are a military family and our life is quite out of the ordinary. Weird, expected things happen and we just have had to learn how to go with the flow and because we don’t live close to family, it can be difficult to keep all our friends and family all up to date on our ongoing Air Force adventures, so this blog will also allow me to keep everyone connected. To give you a firsthand look into our daily lives and to hear about any of our future plans. And I mean what a better way to keep people in the loop and to tell our story than in this blog? This will be a great way to stay close to the people we care about even when we aren’t able to be together and to make new friends. That is one of the things I am most excited for and now that I have started, I really don’t have plans to stop anytime soon. I have so much to say and we have so much going on in our life that I want to keep you informed and have you follow along with us every step of the way.

Now to wrap up this first post I just wanted to say a thank you for checking out my little slice of the internet and please show your support. Go ahead and subscribe to the mailing list and share this with your friends! I hope you enjoy the things to come. Stay tuned because there are some great posts lined up for the next few weeks and I am so ready to start this whole blogging thing and have you tag along!

Until next time,

Julianna
